We Grow Together (January 2024) 'No More Nowt' Commission
Blue Monday is classified as the most depressing day of the year, when mental health suffers most during the cold winter months. To counteract this, we worked with residents of Annfield Plain to create a lantern window and floral artwork to decorate the shops windows and bus shelters to make Annfield 'Bloom'. We held a community event on the 15th of January at Annfield Plain Community Centre to create lanterns and join a silent disco.
The artwork was received brilliantly by residents, who said the artwork cheered them up and brightened up the high street. We also ran a series of Bloom Monday workshops and highlighted local activities people could get involved with, to prevent loneliness and isolation.
A pilot event in October at the Community event highlighted the need in the area for inspiring and engaging free family events.
